The June Edit With Caroline

With the official start of summer just around the corner, this time of year is all about celebrations, getaways, and channeling that vacation state of mind. All three stores are filled with everything you need to embrace the new season – think lightweight silky dresses, chic everyday sandals, dreamy linen bedding and blue ticking striped cushions. Plus, gifts dads will love too! So for June’s edition of The Edit, I’m sharing my curated collection of favorites for your weekend getaway, coastal-inspired home and gifts to spoil dads on Father's Day.

I’m itching to get out and explore now more than ever and when it comes to packing up for a night or two away, I like to keep it simple...

With the warmer weather, dresses are easy options. This printed cotton silk tunic is lightweight and perfect for hot and humid days, plus it comes with a customizable self-tie belt. I like to pair with this classic nude slide, which is an essential weekend sandal that goes with anything. Complete the look with this straw fedora, which packs well into a bag and is made for summer days.

I’ve been living in this casual linen shirt dress, and I can’t recommend it enough for a weekend trip. Since it’s linen, it’s suitable for so many occasions, from outdoor cocktails and beach days, to a day spent wine tasting. Throw on some heels and take it for a spin out to dinner too.

My everyday denim pick this time of year is an ankle cut in a white wash, like this pair from Citizens of Humanity. They're clean, elevated and go with everything. I like to pair them with a crisp button down, like this striped one which features a fun and summery tie detail at the back.

The espadrille is the shoe of the season and one of my favorites is the slip-on. It perfectly compliments a cropped or ankle length pant (see white denim), but also wears well with a dress.

I always bring an extra bag along on weekend getaways for spontaneous day trips to the beach or lake. This linen one rolls up well in a travel bag and the neutral color goes with anything.

Whether you live beachside or it’s simply a state of mind, these new home favorites are inspired by my love for the coast.

I recently switched out my bedding for the new season and it's been a game changer. I chose this linen duvet cover, which is both lightweight and cozy, plus it’s OEKO-TEX certified and free of harmful chemicals. Linen can initially feel a bit scratchy, but this duvet is pre-washed for an instantly soft feel. The pinstripe print has a nautical feel that I love this time of year. As for pillowcases, these striped linen ones are my current pick.

Whenever I feel like I need to freshen up my space, I always turn to pillows. I recently designed a new collection of grain sack and linen pillows using vintage handmade fabric with a soft linen backing. I like to layer a few together on a sofa or bed with these basket lampshades nearby for a breezy, casual living vibe.

When I want to bring a little of the outdoors in, I add a few nature-inspired decor elements throughout. I recently started flipping through this coffee table book and found lots of inspiration. Having a crystal or two placed throughout the home will not only clear negative energy, but breathe new life into your space. And a vase with fresh, local flowers or greenery will make your home instantly smell like summer.

Whether I’m showering off or headed to the pool, this striped throw is made for your warm weather needs. Crafted from 100% handwoven cotton using traditional looms, this towel is perfect for this time of year. Use it to dry off, as a sarong, draped over a bed or chair as a throw, or for laying on at the beach or lake... it can do so much!

And if you can’t be at the beach, this Jeffrey Doornbos print shot from the coast of Kenya will certainly bring that soothing seaside energy to your home.

It’s almost time to celebrate the dads in our life and what better way to show him some love than with a few fun gifts. Complete his ongoing cocktail collection with this beautifully embossed tumbler and our bestselling skull shot glasses. Top it off with this Santa Barbara handmade bottle stopper.

Help him unplug with a great coffee table read. Whether he's an amateur or experienced mixologist, the Cocktail Codex is a great reference for anyone interested in making drinks. If he's a music lover, Stones From The Inside will be a hit. It features rare and unseen images from former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

Give him a gift he will cherish for years to come with this collection of Jeffrey Doornbos prints. They feature four of the artists favorite iconic Santa Barbara views.

Reignite his love for card games with this vintage deck of playing cards and keep score using this natural graphite object pencil. Created by a San Francisco-based artist, this natural writing implement doubles as a piece of art. And for a laugh that he'll appreciate daily, this Father Of The Year key chain is sure to please.

Thank you as always for supporting DIANI and letting us be your one-stop for all of your seasonal needs. I hope my selection of favorites inspires you as we welcome in the summer months together.

Sending lots of love,
