Tensira
Founded in 2010 by Hamidou Diallo of Guinea and Tuulia Makinen Diallo of Finland, Tensira is a unique expression of centuries-old Guinean weaving and indigo dyeing processes and Nordic design. With Hamidou’s mother, an indigo dye artist of more than 40 years, as inspiration, the Diallos’ core value is to promote sustainable production, respect for people and the environment, and to guarantee a safe and fair work space for all collaborators.
All Tensira fabrics are 100% cotton, spun, woven and dyed by hand in their workshop in West Africa using traditional looms. Tensira employs over 100 artisans and collaborates with several dozen artisan groups throughout Guinea for weaving, natural indigo dyeing, as well as the collection and shelling of Kapok fruit.
