Our Handmade Studio Clay Workshop Event Recap

I’m still reliving last week’s dreamy summer evening spent under the stars with Handmade Studio TN founder, Morgan Williamson for our inaugural DIANI x Handmade Studio Clay Workshop. Morgan guided us through how to make our very own vase and ring dish, whilst we sipped on locally-crafted cocktails, nibbled on charcuterie and shopped, of course. While there were many little details that made this event special, everyone coming together to create and build community is what made it memorable. This week I’m sharing a recap from the event… while already daydreaming about the next one.

Morgan Williamson, the founder of Handmade Studio TN, supplied each guest with slabs of clay and a variety of ceramic tools and materials, including pieces of vintage lace she's been collecting over the years for pressing into the clay.

To kick off the event, we sipped on locally-crafted vermouth spritzers from T.W. Hollister & Co. Orso De Oro Vermouth is infused with locally grown botanicals and is the perfect end-of-summer low alcohol drink. Founder, Ashley Hollister was on hand pouring the pre workshop cocktails.

We served English tea sandwiches prepared by Aspyn's Table and a beautiful charcuterie board by Morgan. Dessert was an assortment of chocolates, fruit and nuts and beautiful edible flower shortbread cookies by Lori Stern.

Morgan took guests through the step-by-step process of creating a handmade textured vase and keepsake ring bowl – from rolling out to hand building, and imprinting the clay with lace and other textures. Once completed, the ceramic pieces are being fired and glazed locally and will be brought back to the store for pick up shipping to those visiting us from out of town.

A big thank you to Morgan, her family who came to help and all the wonderful guests who attended this event. It was such a pleasure creating alongside you all. Thank you to our neighbors, Renaud's Patisserie for allowing us to spill over onto their patio and Meg Sandu for capturing the evening so beautifully. I'm excited to start planning our next get-together. Stay tuned!

Sending lots of love,
