Let’s Chat About Chairs

The importance of chairs dates back centuries, from grandma and her sitting chair to the queen and her royal throne. It’s one of the most important furniture pieces in a home, but often gets overlooked. I’m a firm believer that every room needs at least one chair, if not more. Before beginning your search, it’s important to identify the purpose of the room – is it studious, restful or meant for entertaining? Here at DIANI Living we have a small selection of chairs that I have hand selected from around the country to fit a variety of spaces. From dining to desk chairs, let me help you pick a favorite.

When it comes to gathering around the dining table, comfortable yet elegant chairs are key. These sustainably made Cane Arm Chairs are the perfect blend of both. Crafted from rattan and featuring wrap around caning, these chairs remind me of my British roots where cane is very popular. I like how the texture of cane adds depth of character to varying wood dining and side tables. Available in three different colors and styles – from arm chair to lounge chair – these chairs can easily be mixed and matched to suit your needs. If you already have a dining table that you love, don’t forget to take note of the height, color and aesthetics before diving into chair buying.

Choosing a desk chair is very personal. Comfort and design are key, but it also has to pair well with the desk and provide support for hours on end. This Leather Tufted Chair was originally vinyl and I reupholstered it with this buttery leather that I found at a flea market on the East Coast. The tufted back and seat make it a perfect desk chair and the aesthetic fits in a variety of spaces. I particularly like how the mid-century design is a juxtaposition to the antiques that I find. Mixing eras is a big design love of mine.

A sitting chair should compliment the way you’re going to live in a space. Whether its the living room, bedroom or den – think relaxing, comfortable and cozy. This 1920’s Napoleon Trois Arm Chair is just that. I reupholstered this chair with corduroy that I found at a favorite fabric store in Soho, London. The timeless design originally caught my eye and it’s quite delightful to sit on with a cup of tea and a good book. This gorgeous antique chair works well in the bedroom, library or living room. Really, the options are endless.

I love a good indoor/outdoor chair. This sustainably made Cane Arm Lounge Chair is not intended for outdoor use, but it does work well in sunrooms or closed in porches. The rattan back and upholstered cushions strike the perfect balance of elegant, yet relaxed. I added one of my custom designed pillows to bring in some print and color.

Do you see a chair you love, but not sure if it will fit in your space? We offer the option to take our chairs on approval so you can be sure it works perfectly.
