Caroline Diani’s Tips for a Better Night’s Sleep

As I get older and my businesses continue to evolve, my quality of sleep becomes more and more important. I can no longer pull all nighters and instead, I’ve come to value getting a solid seven or eight hours of sleep. With that in mind, I know that my quality of sleep will either leave me feeling rested, rejuvenated and on top of my game for my team or groggy, tired and reaching for sugary snacks. With running a business and traveling, it’s hard to maintain a consistent sleep schedule. However, I try to incorporate a few things into my evening routine to help me relax, unwind and get a blissful night’s sleep.

PLUSH PILLOWS & BEDDING

As we all know, there is nothing better than getting into a freshly laundered bed. I’m a firm believer that the right sheets can make or break a good night’s sleep. My personal favorite is our Linen Sheet Set. Available in a variety of colors and handcrafted in Europe, these linen sheets and pillow cases are pre-washed for the softest feel – and with each wash they only get softer.

Pillows are another must in creating a snooze-worthy sanctuary. Recently, I’ve been incorporating these Striped Bolster Cushions on my bed and I’m obsessed. They are super plush and are great for propping up behind your back while reading. I’ve even been guilty of drifting to sleep snuggled up with one.

CALMING OILS & INCENSE

One of my personal sleep challenges is turning my brain off at the end of the day. While it helps to jot down my thoughts, I also like to incorporate natural calming rituals to clear my mind. If I’ve had a particularly busy day, I like to use UMA Pure Bliss Wellness Oil, which is created with specific essential oils to help bring balance to the mind and body and ease stress. I massage a few drops into my pulse points, behind my ears or at my temples for instant relaxation.

I’ve come to love the ritual of lighting incense at the end of the day. It’s a great way to signal to your body that it’s time to prepare for bed. UMA’s Pure Rest Wellness Incense is one of my favorites, the combination of botanical aromas provides the most soothing effect on the mind, body and soul. I like to keep a few incense sticks and the Crane Incense Holder by the bed so I can easily slip into a blissful routine. I also love Hemp Mendo’s CBD Tincture for those times that a deep sleep isn’t coming to me.

HEALING CRYSTALS

I’ve recently gotten into crystals and I’m officially addicted. Not only do they bring beauty to a space, they are also a great meditation aid. I love having one bedside, especially this gorgeous Tangerine Quartz Crystal II, which helps promote serene and quiet thoughts, especially after a stressful day. TURN OFF THE TECH

It’s easy to fall into the trap of checking emails or scrolling Instagram in bed – we are all guilty of it, I know I am! Unfortunately, it’s the last thing we want to be doing to get a good night’s rest. The blue light given off by phones and computers affects levels of the sleep inducing hormone melatonin, which we need to go to sleep and stay asleep.

I try to unplug at least an hour before bed and opt for reading a good book or listening to a podcast to help me relax. Some current favorites are Many Lives, Many Masters given to me by a good friend after I lost my two beloved dogs this past year, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up because I’m on a constant quest to organize all my paperwork and drawers and The New Health Rules which is my gentle reminder book when I need inspiration to stay on track.

I hope you all enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Sunday evening and a blissful night’s sleep. And if all else fails, have a couple tequilas! Shop all of your bedding needs and wellness essentials in store or online.  For product questions or special order inquiries, email customercare@dianiliving.com.
