The September Edit With Caroline
I can feel the cool, crisp air, the anticipation of leaves falling and summer slowly slipping away as this Friday, the 23rd marks the first day of fall. This is my favorite season for nature’s transition and fashion and I’m curating the stores with everything you need for a stylish wardrobe and cozy home – from sweaters, denim, boots and handbags, to candles, coffee brewers, benches and more. This September Edit, I’m sharing my newest picks to revamp your wardrobe and sacred spaces at home… The perfect one-stop-shop for all things fall…
As I transition my wardrobe from summer to fall, I lean into neutrals in a variety of fabrics and styles with pops of feminine florals. Blazers are one of my go-to fall layering pieces since they're easy to incorporate for work, meetings, dinners, and even around town on the weekend. The Nili Lotan Diane Blazer is a favorite for its sophisticated tailored cut and plaid fabric. Pair it with the Nili Lotan Nils Leather Pants and the Catrina Slingback Pumps from Aeyde for an ultra chic look.
I’m a sucker for sweater weather, from lightweight cardigans to thick pullover turtlenecks. For chilly mornings, the ribbed Grandpa Cardigan from new designer, Treat is a must. It’s made from the softest cashmere blend and is perfect for layering, whether you’re going out or staying in. I’m styling it with black pants and the Elise Ankle Booties from Loeffler Randall. For a cozier style, the Balade Pullover from Vanessa Bruno is a classic. Made from a soft alpaca blend, this sweater has a slightly oversized shape with drop shoulders. Style with the Vanessa Bruno Helias Cropped Jeans and a ballet flat.
I love exploring new denim styles for fall, and I’m currently crushing on the new R13 Jane Jeans. This slouchy pair has an on-trend flare silhouette and versatile wash. I’m styling them with a blouse or sweater and the Catrina Slingback Pumps which are a great all day heel height.
If you’re looking for something to wear to a fall dinner or party, look no further. The Bianca Dress from Saloni combines flowers and stars in a variety of hues for a beautiful fall print. I especially love the flattering calf-length hem and gathered puff sleeves. Style with strappy gold heels like the So Nude Sandals from Aquazzura.
Now is also a great time to update your accessory collection – from handbags and scarves to sunnies and jewelry. I’m currently coveting the Neeson Zip Top Bag from Anya Hindmarch. Crafted from black leather for a sleek and sophisticated style, this bag has a spacious interior for all your essentials, while maintaining a structured shape. From office to errands, the Mortimer Bag, also from Anya Hindmarch is efficient and beautiful. Made by hand in Florence, the interior has labeled compartments to hold all your essentials – from cards, phone and earbuds to a handy pen loop.
For the fall traveler, the Jacquard Pack Away makes jetsetting a breeze. It features an array of compartments to organize your essentials – three pockets for small items, one zipped pocket for important things and a removable laundry bag to keep things neat. The Jala Scarf is perfect for bringing a pop of color to your fall outfit. Made in Italy from 100% wool, this beautiful scarf can be worn around your neck, wrapped around your head or as a bright pocket square.
Elevate your seasonal spectacles with the Porgy Protective Sunglasses from Caddis. They have no prescription at the top of the lens and adjustment at the bottom, while drawing from the classic wayfarer style. The turtle frame is perfect for fall and the lenses block blue light to reduce eyestrain and improve sleep. If you’re looking for just progressives, the Miklos Glasses are my favorite. I love the thickness and solid feel for a bold statement.
Cinch your fall wardrobe with the Nili Belt from Nili Lotan. With a vintage style, this Italian leather belt has a solid brass buckle and is made to fit beautifully around the natural shape of the waist. And as we bring boots back into rotation, these Cashmere Knee Hi Socks are on my list. They're made in Portugal from 80% recycled cashmere at a family-run factory that operates entirely on renewable energy. And don't forget to add a little something shiny into the mix, like these Shiny Crescent Earrings from Isabel Marant Étoile.
To welcome the cozy season ahead, I’m updating my home with a few beautiful, yet practical pieces that bring me joy. And nothing says joy like hot coffee and tea on a cool, fall morning. While I’m not a coffee drinker, Jeffrey gives this Brewer Stand Set a thumbs up. The slow pour over style allows you to relax and enjoy the experience, and the organic shape and premium materials look lovely in a variety of kitchen styles. If you're a tea drinker like me, I can’t say enough good things about Bellocq loose leaf teas. My favorite is the Nocturne Tea for winding down in the evening.
I love the soothing ritual of lighting candles and my newest addition is the Gabriel Classic Candle from Trudon. Handmade in France using techniques from master candle makers, this candle welcomes warmth with notes of leather, cashmere wood, and candied chestnut. Don’t forget the Brass Base for added luxury. A DIANI classic, the well-loved Gather Candle is back for its seasonal debut. Handcrafted in small batches, this candle has notes of nutmeg, amber and vetiver.
For fall décor inspiration, I’ve been turning to The Evolution Of Home: English Interiors For A New Era. From English design firm, Sims Hilditch, this book shares the relaxed, yet elegant interiors they are known for creating, including tips for decorating and organizing a home. One home element that I love to add in for fall is this Vintage Bench. It’s handmade and perfect for throwing a blanket over in the hallway or end of the bed.
This is the time to bring darker hues into the home, like this Bare Utility Vessel from DBO Home. Featuring an organic porcelain shape with a leather handle, this versatile piece can be used for flowers, plants, cutlery, wooden spoons and spatulas. And when it comes to tea towels, out with the old and in with a set of these Vintage Linen Towels. Handmade with an earthy look and feel, these towels are a staple in both of my homes.
Fall is upon us and I'm excited to enter a new season. It feels like hitting reset, a great opportunity to make changes in your life, in your wardrobe and around your home. I hope my curated collection of fall favorites inspires as we welcome fall.
