The September Edit With Caroline

Now that the weather has cooled off a bit, it’s starting to feel like fall (officially, September 22nd). The crisp mornings have me reaching for a sweater and I know boots are just around the corner. And for those of us dealing with dry skin and thinning hair, I've been moisturizing and fortifying from inside out with some of my favorite products. As for my home, I’m slowly updating with all of the fall essentials, from seasonal candles to floral cushions and baskets for firewood. So for September’s edition of The Edit, I’m sharing my curated collection of fall favorites for your wardrobe, skincare routine and living space.

One of my favorite ways to embrace the fall season is to update the staples in my wardrobe. First up is the cozy Vivi Cardigan from Vanessa Bruno. It has a beautiful ethnic print and is just the right amount of cozy for easy layering.

Since we're still in seasonal limbo, a long sleeve t-shirt is key for dressing up or down. The Jewelni Long Sleeve T-Shirt from Isabel Marant Étoile has a turtleneck design with a subtle pattern. I'll be layering mine under a jacket or blazer or by itself for an effortlessly chic look. Perfect for these layers, try the Alison Skinny Jeans from R13, with a high rise and crop at the ankle.

I love a good statement boot for fall, and this year’s lineup doesn’t disappoint. The Wish Star Boots from Golden Goose combine Venetian artisan tradition with cowboy spirit. Let these leather boots shine and pair them with a dress, skirt or denim – you can’t go wrong. The Alberone Chelsea Boots from Diemme are another personal favorite. Made in Italy with a suede exterior and lined with leather, these boots are as versatile as they're comfortable.

Take your blazer game up a notch with the DB Patch Pocket Jacket from Smythe. Featuring a metallic tweed fabric and gold buttons, this piece will instantly enhance any look. Style it over a t-shirt with dark denim and a boot for a chic everyday look (I styled with this skirt). A lux finishing touch that no wardrobe should be without, this Detachable Faux Fur Collar is this season’s must-have. Add it to a blazer, jacket or coat, or even as a little warmth over a tank top.

Classic black flats never go out of style. I’ve had these Kirsten Flats from Aeyde on heavy rotation. They fit like a glove and their ballerina style and almond-shaped toe is feminine whilst being comfortable. A simple crossbody bag is my go-to year round, as it keeps all essentials in one place and makes traveling a breeze. I love the Mallory Woven Crossbody from Loeffler Randall, which is made from soft leather and features a pretty woven design.

As the seasons change, so does my skin. By adding in products that exfoliate and moisturize from the inside out, it keeps my skin feeling and looking its best. I start my routine off with the Body Ionic Massage Brush, which stimulates circulation, and boosts the immune system too. I also like to add in an exfoliating scrub once or twice a week, like the Coffee + Mint Body Scrub. Made with organic, fair trade coffee beans, coconut oil, cocoa butter and cane sugar, it revives dull skin, leaving it silky soft and firm.

One of my new favorite finds is this Antioxidant Body Wash from Salt & Stone. Cleansing during the cooler months can leave skin feeling dry and irritated, but this gel cleanser gently hydrates and restores my skin, making it feel soft and smooth. Post shower or bath, the Toning Body Serum from Susanne Kaufmann is extremely effective at tightening and firming the skin and the perfect addition to my daily routine this time of year.

Sunscreen is a year-around skincare staple for me, and this Mineral Sunscreen Lotion from Salt & Stone is my go-to. It’s lightweight with SPF 30, plus it's water and sweat resistant too. And nothing feels better on my skin than the Heron Robe Gown, a lightweight, silky soft addition to your morning or evening routine.

While topical products are definitely effective, nourishing and hydrating the skin from the inside out is key. I add a scoop of Moon Juice Collagen Protect to my morning smoothie or tea to add hydration and firmness to my skin, plus a scoop of the Yin Power from Sun Potion, which contains powerful Ayurvedic herbs that promote healthy circulation, boost the immune system and aid in stress relief.

I've been reading a lot about hair loss post covid, and some of our customers swear by Moon Juice Superhair to strengthen what they have plus encourage new growth faster. I've been using it and can say it works wonders to promote healthier hair growth. It’s formulated with a multivitamin, adaptogens, micronutrient and botanicals and all the B vitamins help nails and skin too.

As the days get shorter, I find myself turning inward and craving more time indoors. So lately I’ve been inspired to update my home with all things fall. Nothing sets the mood quite like a seasonal candle, like our best selling Harvest Pumpkin Candle. This time of year I like to set our dining table with natural light using these Rope Candles and Antique Brass Candlesticks. Whilst they are lovely for special occasions, I also like to light them as a dinner ritual in the run up to the holiday season.

Creating a cozy living space invites us to slow down and pause during the day. As the seasons change, I like to swap out the cushions in my living room. Right now I’m coveting the color palette and flowers on this Vintage Brown Floral Print Cushion. When I found this fabric, I just knew it would make great cushions that would either work in a mid century style home or layered with the Grey Stripe Grain Sack Cushion with Poms for a more classic country feel.

Every couch needs a throw and the Granito Throw from Teixidors is a firm favorite with our customers. Crafted from an extra-fine merino wool and cashmere blend, this throw is not only super soft and warm, but a beautiful heirloom that you’ll have for years to come. I’m always looking for extra storage and the Taylor Baskets are my go-to. Available in three sizes (small, medium and large), each basket is handwoven from reed grass making them super durable, and perfect for storing extra blankets, cushions, towels, and even firewood.

To set the table during the harvest season, I like to use warm tones and natural fibers. Inspired by our 1752 farmhouse, The Stone Jug in Upstate NY, I have designed an eponymous home collection honoring my love of the home’s historical provenance, character and charm. To launch, I designed a collection of four seasonally colored stone washed linen napkins. I'm partial to all of them, but the earthy feel and natural Sage Brush color is perfect for fall. I’m a big fan of lighting incense, especially this time of year. And, lastly, this Incense Bundle Sample Set includes eight resin incense sticks and hand-pressed Palo Santo, perfect if you’re new to incense or looking for gift. The scent is evocative of wooded trails, and campfires.

Celebrating the fall season is all about cultivating new rituals. This is a time of big inspiration for me, and I'm excited to share my collection of favorites with you all as they evolve throughout the season. By adding seasonal staples to your wardrobe, skincare routine and living space, I hope you are inspired to create new rituals of your own.

Sending lots of love,
