The May Edit With Caroline

As we approach the start of summer, many of us are getting ready to travel, whether it be for a long weekend, week-long vacation or beyond. I’ve been curating sunshine-friendly styles for any type of excursion... think flowy dresses and sandals, fun tops and handbags... plus my favorite toiletries and essentials while on-the-go. Maybe you’re just starting to pack, or need that last minute something before departure, so we’re standing by to ensure you have the perfect outfit for your trip. For this month’s edition of The Edit, I’m sharing my collection of travel inspired favorites for day tripping, date nights and the self care essentials that you won’t want to leave home without.

Some of my favorite getaways have been overnight trips taken on a whim. And when I need to pack light, I turn to loose, comfortable pieces that pair together effortlessly. These Mirth Pants are a travel must - made from cotton and flax with a paperbag waist and wide leg. I’m styling them with the Tyliam Blouse from Vanessa Bruno, which is slightly oversized and made from a breathable cotton blend, plus I love the colorful, summery bird print.

The Essentials Crossbody from Anya Hindmarch will keep your daily necessities all in one place. It features a zipper compartment for your sunglasses, another pocket for your phone, and a third pocket for other essentials and credit cards, all in a woven raffia that's perfect for summer. And whether you're traveling or not, the Remick Sunglasses from Oliver Peoples are a must.

Dresses that are easy to throw on are another must for day trips. I’m loving the Gauze Caftan Shirt dress from Raquel Allegra. It’s made from a cotton gauze with a wide, airy silhouette and versatile shape which can be worn as is, belted or layered over a swimsuit to the beach. A great shoe to tie the look together are these leopard print Jazmin Sandals from Pedro Garcia. I also like to pack a printed dress, like the Vienna Maxi Dress from Mirth. It’s flowy, comfortable, soft and perfect for warmer weather. The print is hand-block printed in India using eco-friendly dyes.

I don’t leave home without a lightweight jacket or sweater, like this Oversized Knitted Bomber from Mr. Mittens. It’s made from 100% cotton and layers well over blouses, t-shirts and dresses. The perfect light layer for traveling in, cool mornings and chilly evenings. I love it styled over the printed Nora Blouse from Chufy with a pair of denim shorts.

Date nights always feel a little more special when traveling, and elevating your look can add to the experience. The Kaia Kaleidoscope Dress is made from an organic cotton and linen blend and has an easy, relaxed fit with a kaleidoscope appliqué print. Pair it with the Carina Wedges from Castañer for a laid-back, yet glamorous look, and for a little touch of gold, the Nyundo Stacking Bracelets from Soko.

Whether you're jetting off to Europe, exploring the tropics or staying local, the beautiful Naki Long Dress from Saloni is a winner. Made from a cotton, silk and linen blend with a lace trim and cut out detailing, it styles well with a flat sandal, like the Pedro Garcia Panie Sandals imbedded with Swarovski crystals.

Alternatively, you can dress up a pair of trousers and a blouse, like the Iruya Cora Blouse from Maria Cher. Made from a lightweight linen, it’s soft and subtly structured. Dress it up with the linen Puelches Paula Pants, and accessorize with the gold stacking bracelets

Turn heads in the Aliona Dress from Vanessa Bruno. The sunny, vibrant color is made for warmer weather and the cascading ruffle detailing gives this dress an ultra feminine feel. I’m styling it with the Lola Heels from Loeffler Randall, with their chic low profile and lace up design, they're the perfect travel shoe. With Spanish-inspired flare, the Paros Crop Top and Paros Skirt make an elegant, yet sexy date night look. Both top and skirt have intricate hand-loomed detailing and can be worn together or separately.

Travel in itself can be stressful, so packing some favorite self care items is helpful for easing the mind and body. I’ve stocked the stores with a variety of travel size products that are perfect for carrying on the plane, like these small bottles from the Olverum Bath Oil Travel Set. Made from a blend of essential oils and plant extracts, this bath oil will melt away any post travel tension.

Being on a plane can dry out the skin, so these Organic Sheet Masks go with me everywhere. Made with Greek yogurt and plant extracts, this set of three masks conditions, strengths and renews the skin. I like to follow up with this amazing Rose Face Oil from Irene Forte. It’s lightweight and fast-absorbing, but really moisturizes while naturally brightening the skin. Plus it smells divine!

To keep my lips moisturized mid-flight, I use the Pistachio Lip Balm. It’s made with buttery shea and mango, plus pistachio oil and borage seed oil to nourish, protect and soften the lips. I also love the long-time favorite Hand Cream from Susanne Kaufmann. It absorbs quickly with no greasy residue and protects the skin from drying out. It's a top seller in our store.

I’ve loved Maison Louis Marie perfume for years, so when I travel I use their Perfume Oil Discovery Set, which features their five best selling fragrances. You can pick and choose your favorite scent depending on your mood or outing. To pack it all up, I use this Anya Hindmarch In-Flight Case. It’s the perfect travel accessory, with a clear exterior and zipper compartments to keep everything visible and organized.

A day of travel can be disorienting, so I like to bring along The Untamed Elemental. This beautiful set of oracle cards is inspired by the elements of Mother Earth, with each card inviting you to connect with your body, mind and spirit and bring imbalances into a state of healing and wholeness. Use daily to set your intentions or whenever you're looking for a little direction or insight. And to keep the sun at bay, my favorite Gardner Lattice Hat is a must. It’s handcrafted from palm straw and has a stretch headband and the lock stitch weave prevents unraveling.

I hope my collection of travel essentials gives you some inspiration to start packing for that summer trip, whether it be near or far. We're here to ensure you travel in style, so please reach out to care@dianiboutique.com for any help.

Happy Memorial Day and sending lots of love,
