The May Edit With Caroline

With spring now in full swing, I’m updating the stores daily with the very best of the season. Lately, I’ve been all about refreshing stale spaces (I’m looking at you, bedroom), bringing new life to wardrobe staples (the one-and-done dress) and stocking up on gifts for upcoming celebrations like graduations, Father’s Day and more. So for May’s edition of the The Edit, I’m sharing a curated collection of my current favorites from clothing, shoes and accessories to home and wellness…

As we reach the peak of spring, I’ve been itching to refresh my home. First on my list is the bedroom – there's nothing like a new set of bed linens, especially this time of year. I recently added this beautiful linen duvet from Cultiver and absolutely love the look and feel. It’s made from 100% European flax and is OEKO-TEXT certified, meaning it’s free from any harmful chemicals. It’s also stonewashed, so has a super soft feel that only gets softer with each additional wash. Available in a variety of neutral colors and prints, you can mix and match sheets, pillowcases and cushion covers. These two cushion covers in Enzo and Ana stripe are on my wish list.

We recently launched the DIANI Dried Flower Bar and its been a hit. Available in individual stems, bundles or bouquets, dried flowers are beautiful, long lasting and look lovely in a variety of vases. I’ve been using these olive leaf branches in a statement vase, like this corrugated metal one in my kitchen. I love the mix of the metal with the silvery leaves of the olive.

Baskets are one of my favorite ways to stay organized, while adding texture to any space. This pom puff basket is a favorite, it can be used to store blankets, towels, magazines, hide clutter or round up kid’s toys. And I love how it works in almost any room – bathroom, bedroom, living room, office or entryway. And, while I use my vintage candlestick holders (like these) year around, I like to switch out the tapers… these rope candles in cream are perfect for spring.

Adding new artwork to the walls is probably the last thing I do when sprucing up a space - it really ties a room together and adds character and heart. This print by my husband Jeffrey was taken while visiting a Maasai family at their compound in Kenya. We spent the the afternoon with the tribe and there were probably thirty children, but this one boy was a real hustler. He was determined to sell us one more beaded art or carving. I admired his determination and his eyes were incredibly beautiful. The print is aptly named, "Just One More Trinket".

If there's one thing I’ve learned as a stylist over the years, it’s how to make the most of everyday, staple pieces. With the warmer weather, I’m currently living in this linen shirt dress from Lauren Manoogian. Crafted from Japanese linen, it features a unique rounded collar, side seam pockets and side slits. I love how it easily carries me through the week and will transition nicely into the summer months and it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. During the week, I keep it casual and style it with sneakers (like these classic Vejas) and a cotton knit bandana, like this yellow one.

When I’m going out, I'll elevate the dress by pairing with these embellished Ancient Greek sandals (on my wishlist) and this handwoven straw fedora. Adding a few pieces of gold jewelry, like these bangles (which I live in) and this bee drop necklace finishes it off.

When it comes to handbags, this one from Lauren Manoogian has been in heavy rotation. The crochet style features a spacious, open interior with a sturdy bottom. It’s great for throwing essentials in when you’re headed out. And with sunny days ahead, I'm loving these classic, vintage inspired glasses.

The month of May marks the start of celebration season, with graduations, Father’s Day and weddings. Now is the time to start stocking up on gifts for students, teachers, fathers and friends. This past year has been tough on teachers, so to say “thank you” we have the perfect, useful gift. This flour sack dish towel is a favorite of mine. It’s hand-printed in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is lightweight and super absorbent.

The DIANI Mazuri candle is a lovely gift, no matter the occasion. As they begin a new venture, this notepad will keep them organized, with a sense of humor.
