The March Edit With Caroline

Spring has officially sprung, and no matter what your current weather conditions are, it’s a time to celebrate warmer, light-filled days ahead. I’ve been stocking the stores with all of my spring staples, from dresses and blazers to sandals and handbags. And with Easter celebrations just around the corner, we have all the seasonal gifts, like candles, decorative bunnies and gardening essentials for sprucing after the winter hibernation. So, for this month’s edition of The Edit, I’m sharing my curated collection of spring favorites for your wardrobe, garden and Easter gifting. 

When the first day of spring arrives, I’m more than ready to shed a layer or two. But despite wanting to trade in my coat and boots for a dress and sandals, I like to keep a few light layers around when the weather's fickle. The wool Tyra Jacket from Mackage is perfect for light, yet cozy layering over blouses and dresses. It’s handmade and tailored for a relaxed, draped fit and features a leather and wool sash belt detail and is a great staple for day or night.

A wrap dress is flattering for every body type and the Vanessa Bruno Wrap Dress is my current favorite. The feminine floral print and sarong-like silhouette makes it versatile enough to wear with sandals or sneakers. And speaking of sandals, my go-to are these simple, yet elegant Jackie Mid Heel Sandals from Loeffler Randall. The nude color goes with anything and the minimalist style elevates denim, dresses and even shorts. For a more casual look, I love these organic cotton canvas Veja V-10 Sneakers. They're made from sustainable materials and the pops of orange and red add a hint of spring to your look.

I'm a denim lover year round, and right now I’m loving the relaxed fit of the Courtney Slim Jeans from R13. I'm excited to refreshen up our kitchen garden, so I’m pulling out all of my essentials, starting with these gardening gloves. The extra long cuffs protect my arms from scratches, bites and sun exposure and I love the pretty floral print. And I don’t leave the house without my Gardener Lattice Hat. It’s handcrafted in Mexico from palm straw and the wide brim offers great sun protection.

Last year we planted many of our herbs and vegetables from seed using seeds from Hudson Valley Seed Company and had some great results. So this year, we're doing the same and I’m loading up on the Ragged Jack Kale and Arugula, which I like to toss into salads and smoothies in the warmer months. For trimming and pruning, I just started using this new Pruner with Sheath and love the durable steel construction and old-world Japanese design. I also just picked up these popular Garden Scissors, which were featured in Magnolia Magazine and Dwell. They have an ambidextrous grip and the wide handles provide a comfortable fit.

For those looking to start an indoor herb garden, the Cilantro Garden Jar is a must. It features a self-watering herb kit that fits inside a mason jar and is outfitted with a hydroponic “wicking” system that brings water and nutrients up to the plant’s roots. So just add water and set in a sunny window.

With the Easter holiday upon us, I have put together some favorite seasonal gifts for friends and loved ones.
