The July Edit With Caroline
Time has a way of flying by when summer’s in full swing. And despite the longer days, I still manage to fill up every hour. I’ve been enjoying long-awaited gatherings with friends, sunset beach walks with Nala and Jeffrey, and a little bit of me time too before bed. As we all look to squeeze the most out of summer, I’ve been stocking the stores with everything you need for this season’s activities – think chic activewear, special serving ware and snooze-worthy sheet sets. So for July’s edition of The Edit, I’m sharing my curated collection of favorites for hiking, hosting and decompressing after our new found social freedom.
Whether it's hiking or walking, I find that the right activewear and accessories help motivate the activity. The super soft touch and breathable fabric of this cropped tank and matching shorts is great set for layering with this Isabel Marant Etoilé hoodie when temperatures are cool on a morning or evening ramble through the canyon.
Put a spring in your step with a chic and reliable sneaker. My favorite this summer has been this modern take on the iconic New Balance sneaker. It features a sleek color and slim profile, but still has the comfort and stability for intense activity.
Stay fresh with this natural lavender and sage scented deodorant. It’s formulated with probiotics to help neutralize odor and contains hyaluronic acid to moisturize the skin. For my lips, I like to swipe on this lip balm, which is infused with CBD and natural oils. For a post-hike refresh, these face wipes are a must. They clean, exfoliate, soothe and hydrate all in one, making them the ultimate skin multi-tasker.
At my age I’m all about a good hat and a pair of sunnies. I always have this handwoven straw hat by my side and these Oliver Peoples sunglasses are currently on my wishlist. The shape is a chic modern twist on the classic aviator.
Take the summer sun, add in those extra hours of daylight and it’s no wonder we are exhausted by the end of the day. In an attempt to get some rest, these essentials help me cool down, relax and drift off to sleep.
I’m currently living in this 100% cotton pajama set. It has a super soft touch and is perfect for those warm, balmy evenings. When I’m ending my day, I slip my feet into these luxe slides. Made from vegetable tan leather with a natural rubber sole, they are both supportive and chic.
I’m a die-hard linen bedding fan, especially this time of year (see my recent post here). This linen duvet is a favorite for its breathability, soft touch and subtle pinstripe print. I’m pairing it with an indigo striped pillowcase set and a custom designed floral accent cushion.
I swear by this calming temple balm to help me unwind before bed. It's infused with CBD and soothing plant extracts, plus it moisturizes your skin too. And I’m coveting this gorgeous new Himalayan quartz crystal. Not only is it beautiful bedside, but it's known as the master healer, amplifying energy and thought.
As I’m winding down before bed, I like to mix some Dream Dust into my tea. Filled with a blend of adaptogenic herbs, this plant-based powder helps to naturally relax your body and your mind. I also like to apply this anti-aging face mask a couple of times a week. It helps to plump and hydrate the skin, leaving it noticeably replenished in the morning.
Summer is all about last minute gatherings, dinner on the grill and rounds of cold cocktails. Since Jeffrey and I love bringing friends together, having serving ware on hand is essential.
I recently collaborated with Spako Clay to create a custom designed dandelion series, featuring platters, trays, bowls and mugs. Julie’s whimsical interpretation of the dandelion is a symbol of hope, and the perfect serving ware to use year round. This serving dish and this tray have quickly become weekend favorites for serving fish, crudités and fresh salads.
When hosting a meal al fresco, I like to elevate the table setting by incorporating dining pieces that I'd normally use indoors, like my vintage brass candlesticks, beeswax rope candles and cotton napkins. The floral print on these handmade organic cotton napkins is a favorite for summer and pairs perfectly with these cane napkin rings.
Serving food outdoors during the summer can be tricky with warm temps and pesky bugs. This marble cloche is great for keeping cheeses, cookies, and any other nibbles fresh and bug-free. If you’re serving food indoors, this handmade cheeseboard has a unique lace design and is an elegant alternative to a classic wooden board. Lastly, the Chamberlin platter is a favorite of mine year round for its unique design. I like to set one at each place setting or use it to serve a big pasta salad.
I strive to curate collections in each store that inspire in everyday life. I hope these summer essentials inspire you to slow down, get outside and enjoy this fleeting time of year.
