The DIANI Doorstep Checklist
A dump zone for muddy shoes, wet umbrellas and unwanted items on their way to the trash... the front door gets a lot of attention. But not always the good kind. Luckily, spring showers have a way of clearing the air and breathing fresh life into neglected, uninspired places.
In an effort to put a little spring in your doorstep, I've put together some decor ideas that will brighten your entrance and keep things a little more organized too. Let your doorstep shine with these fun and functional details.
Adding a bit of green to any area of your home is an instant game changer. Designed by our in-house botanist, our custom succulent arrangements look lovely as doorstep decor. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from succulent wreaths – perfect for hanging on a front door – to decorative urns and planters, which can easily sit door-side on a vintage wooden stool.
If you lack a green thumb, not to worry. Succulents are one of the easiest plants to care for. Simply spritz with a brass mister twice a week or when the soil seems dry. If your arrangement needs a little love, we also offer a refresh option. Call 805 770 7043 for details.
I say when in doubt, add a basket, and the doorstep is no exception. A large Taylor Basket is perfect entry decor, as they're functional, stylish and add rich texture. Each one is made by hand from native Peruvian reed giving a natural look that blends the inside with the out.
If the large basket is too much, there's a medium and small size as well, which can be used as a decorative piece, for storage or as a plant stand!
Sometimes decorations come from unexpected sources. Hanging a gardening hat by the doorstep adds a lovely touch to an entryway. It makes the space feel lived-in, warm and welcome. Plus, it's easy to grab on your way out!
Handwoven from palm straw by villagers in Mexico, the Gardener Lattice Hat is a versatile favorite. Wear it as sun protection out in the garden or throw it on with a dress as you head out the door for a lunch date.
