Our Favorite DIANI Living Kitchens

The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It’s where we create meals, laugh over Jeffrey’s culinary adventures and feed treats to the new pup, Nala. I love seeing how kitchens are decorated with hints of DIANI Living, from my very own abode to friend’s newly renovated homes and ones I’ve created for clients. Here are some of my favorite DIANI Living kitchens filled with a variety of pieces from our vintage wooden stools and gorgeous glassware to rugs and African baskets.

In our Santa Barbara home the kitchen is a main thoroughfare – where Jeffrey and I spend time cooking, passing through with a hot tea or coffee in hand or hosting guests. Originally built with a ranch-style aesthetic, I renovated the space to create a modern yet cozy design, including an industrious stovetop, dark wooden floors and a mix of surfaces, like stainless steel and blonde wood counters. I particularly love the light that streams through the windows and the vintage Turkish rug that brings warmth to this well-loved space.

A few years ago I did my first staging project for a newly remodeled 1929 residence in the heart of Santa Barbara. With its open floor plan and clean white surfaces, it was like a blank canvas. The first thing I did was add warmth by bringing in some texture with our Vintage Wooden Stools. I love how they’re all different sizes and shapes, it creates character and adds juxtaposition with the clean, modern lines of the renovation. I’m a big fan of glass jars filled with dry goods, so I mixed those with a couple of our African baskets. The natural fibers and neutral tones add just a touch of decorative design.

For this Montecito cottage remodel, the kitchen ended up being one of my favorite rooms to recreate. I worked closely with the client to source the perfect counter tops, cabinet paint colors, tiles, appliances, flooring, farm house sink, and French farm house faucet – creating what became a focal point for the entire renovation. It turned out to be one of the dreamiest spots in the house.

This Santa Barbara remodel is an ongoing project that I love working on a little at a time, which gives the client and I freedom to get creative and find the perfect pieces for her space. When it came to the kitchen nook, it took a little time to source the table, but I finally found a farm house table that fit just right. In addition I designed a custom built bench that’s perfect for layering in our custom DIANI Living pillows.

The kitchen in our 1752 Dutch colonial farmhouse in the Hudson Valley has a very special place in my heart. The original windows, brick floors and built-in hutch remind me of the stone farmhouse I grew up in in England. It brings back fond memories of gathering around the farmhouse table and sharing stories from the day. Besides the kitchen essentials, I’ve added in my favorite Kinfolk Dinner Plates and Handmade Dessert Bowls in Gunmetal as everyday serving ware.
