Introducing the New DIANI Sustainability Shop

DIANI Sustainability Shop

When I opened DIANI 18 years ago, shopping sustainably wasn't at the forefront like it is today. And I'll be the first to admit, it wasn't my focus either. However, over the years we've all learned that how we purchase, recycle and live day-to-day has a massive impact on our planet. I've made a conscious effort to pay more attention to what I buy for my stores and what exactly goes into each product – from how materials are sourced and products are made to the wellbeing of those making the products. I'm inviting you on my journey to learn more about the brands I'm curating and the why behind those brands.

I know how hard it can be to shop sustainably – from learning about brand practices to sifting through product ingredients. In an effort to make it a little easier, I'm excited to introduce our new DIANI Sustainability Shop. Featuring a carefully curated collection of my favorite clean and environmentally-friendly products – from clothing and shoes to homeware and skincare.

The kitchen is one of the easiest places to accumulate disposable products. But replacing single-use for reusable alternatives has never been easier. One of my new go-to's for cleaning is Meliora Cleaning Products. Their All-Purpose Cleaner comes in a refillable glass spray bottle with the cleaner preloaded so all you have to do is add water. Plus the company is B Corp Certified and woman-owned, so that's a win, win in my book.

When you run out of cleaner, refills are available online or at our brick and mortar store. They also make a Laundry Stain Remover Stick that works like a dream.

Last year I swapped plastic wrap for reusable Beeswax Food Wraps and I haven't looked back. Simply use the heat of your hands to mold this beautiful wrap around half an avocado or a dish of leftovers – like our handcrafted bamboo bowl, shown above.

The clean beauty and skincare movement is a personal passion of mine, which is why I've stocked our shelves with only the best products. Mater Soap is one of the newest additions and is quickly becoming a favorite. Handmade in New York using minimal packaging and crafted from sustainably-sourced plant ingredients, these organic soaps are good for your body and the planet.

DIANI Sustainability ShopCreated by sustainable lifestyle leader, Amanda Chantal Bacon, Moon Juice uses plant-based alchemy to naturally nourish and elevate the body from the inside out. Add a little Beauty Dust to your morning smoothie to help with stress, hydration and skin clarity.

Need a non-toxic nail polish? Look no further. Smith & Cult is vegan, cruelty-free and void of all parabens and phthalates – proving that sustainable mani-pedis do exist.

I have been creating custom designed vintage pillows for DIANI Living since we first opened our doors in 2015. The process of choosing vintage fabrics and giving them a second life in the form of beautiful, plush pillows has always been a natural process for me. Creating with Mother Earth in mind makes it that much better.

I'm a big fan of upcycling and love to hand-select the antique furniture pieces and vintage rugs that you see in our stores. There is something so satisfying about breathing new life into each piece and finding it a good home.

The fashion industry has one of the largest carbon footprints. But that is starting to change for the better. I have always valued natural fibers, local production and fair working conditions, so it's exciting to see big brands and emerging newcomers with these same values.

French footwear brand Veja proves that style can also be sustainable. They source natural rubber for their sneakers directly from communities in the Amazon rainforest to save on water, energy and harmful emissions.

Raquel Allegra has always supported sustainability. She started her brand by shredding vintage tees recycled from the Los Angeles County Prison System. And today she continues to manufacture almost all of her naturally-dyed garments in Los Angeles, like the super soft cashmere Popover Hoodie and Drop Crotch Pant shown above.

Shop more of my favorite slow fashion brands – like Bassike, Roam, Chufy and coming soon... Jesse Kamm – in the new sustainability shop. Don't forget to check back as I continue to add to the collection.
