Caroline's Guide To Kick Off Your Fall Wardrobe

It’s hard to believe that we're saying goodbye to summer as we begin to gear up for the fall season. With the warm temperatures we’ve been having everywhere, cardigans and boots haven’t really been on my radar, and I'm sure yours too. But the cooler nights are here in NY and the leaves are starting to change unseasonably early. So in anticipation of the change, I've created a capsule collection of pieces that I can wear interchangeably, both now and later for work and play. From trousers and skirts, to blazers, and yes, boots, here are a few of my favorite new arrivals that create go-to looks to take me from summer to fall with ease.

If there is one outfit to invest in for Fall, it’s this one. A well cut blazer and pant set is chic and so versatile, you’ll find yourself reaching for one, the other or both time and again. The Onilind Jacket from Isabel Marant Étoile is made from with a subtle check print and classic single-breasted silhouette. I’m styling it over the Sierra Sweater from St. Roche with the matching high waisted Noah Pants and the Isabel Marant Étoile Beth Sneakers for an everyday look.

For a slightly different look, I’m swapping the jacket for a couple of sweater options. First, this cozy and preppy Oversized Distressed Edge Cardigan from R13 is my current fall obsession. It’s made from a unique blend of soft mohair and merino wool and can be layered over anything – a dress, a blouse or classic tee. I’m styling it here with the same Sierra Sweater, Noah Pants and Beth Sneakers. I love mixing prints and plaid on plaid is my seasonal go-to.

Another favorite is the Myclan Sweater from Isabel Marant Étoile paired with the Noah Pants. The pullover style is perfect for cooler weather, and yet not too heavy. I'm styling the look with classic black loafers.

Worn solo, the Sierra Sweater really shines with its statement shoulder pads and pleat detailing. I love the soft, feminine feel, and is a great lightweight transitional piece for underpining and rocking alone. To complete the look, I’m wearing the Clarita 50 Heels from Alexandre Birman, which have a metallic snake embossed print and low kitten heels. These heels are the perfect height for every occasion from all day at work to dinners and dancing the night away.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate fall into my wardrobe is to wear a skirt. The Lea Long Skirt from Saloni is a beautiful statement piece that will take you from vacation getaway to dinner out, in style. With its vintage-inspired print, satin feel and bias cut, it flatters the figure and elevates any look. I’m styling it here with the Anine Bing Eva Tank, a favorite layering staple, and these Suede Boots from Vanessa Bruno. I’ll throw the Candy Shirt from Isabel Marant Étoile over my shoulders for an instant cool girl vibe.

This skirt is so versatile that changing up the top and shoes instantly creates a different look. I’m swapping out the jacket for the DB Patch Pocket Jacket from Smythe. Every fall wardrobe needs a seasonal texture to pair with more neutral basics, and this is it with the metallic tweed fabric in a warm red hue. The box cut waist is perfect for layering over tops, blouses and sweaters and the copper buttons add just the right amount of formal. And instead of boots, I’m wearing my favorite Clarita 75 Heels in nude.

There's no arguing that it still feels like we're in a never ending summer, so transitional pieces are key for putting together a wardrobe that feels like fall, but is weather appropriate. This Raquel Allegra Halter Top is lightweight and silky soft, making it perfect for wearing now, but also layered with a jacket, blazer or cardigan when temperatures dip. I’m styling it tucked into the Drapey Structure Belt Midi Skirt from Ganni and the Clarita 50 Heels for an elevated look– think work, dinner date or cocktail party.

Summer-to-fall dressing is all about layering basics with statement pieces. Made from 100% certified recycled polyester, the Cropped Ripstop Jacket from Ganni is the transitional performance jacket of the season. It features a detachable ruffled collar, button closures and curved side slits, plus it’s lightweight and perfect for cooler nights. I’m styling it over the Anine Bing Eva Tank and forest green baby whale cord pants from Citizens of Humanity. To complete the look, I’m wearing the Alberone Chelsea Boots from Diemme. Crafted in Italy, these soft and comfortable boots will be my go-to in the fall months to pair with denim, dresses, skirts and trousers.

No matter the season, I always like to have a cashmere sweater on hand. Lately, I've been wearing the Serafini V-Neck Pullover from LouLou in the early mornings and evenings. This timeless wardrobe staple is slightly oversized, making it perfect for layering. I'm styling it here with dark wash denim, and since it's still sandal season, the Ella Sandal from Aeyde. When the weather changes, I'll swap the sandal out for a boot.

As we transition from one season to the next, the in-between weather can be tricky to navigate when it comes to getting dressed. But with a capsule collection of styles that straddle both summer and fall, you can easily mix and match for the occasion, and the unpredictable weather. This is my favorite time of year with it's beautiful transitions and I'll be wearing sandals whilst reaching for those layers. Oh, and the candle I'm burning got me in the perfect mood for the try on... Harvest Pumpkin. It's a best seller and is available during the fall season whilst stocks last. I highly recommend it!

Wherever this finds you, Happy Labor Day and sending lots of love,
